Raymundo Caldera II, 80 years of age, of Sacramento, California passed away peacefully in the hospital on February 28, 2024, after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
Ray was born May 31, 1943 in Ray, Arizona to Raymundo Caldera I and Marie Jessie (Garcia) Caldera. He is predeceased by his parents, and his first-born daughter Rachel, brothers Eddie, Carlos, Raymond, Albert and Sister Rosa.
He is survived by his loving & devoted wife of 64 years Hermelinda (Linda) Caldera, his daughters Lorraine Teresa Lovato, Elizabeth Caldera Fong and his son Raymundo Caldera III and his beloved dog Wimpy. Ray was dedicated to his family, loved them fiercely and helped raise his 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. His grandchildren include: Tiffany Longoria, Clarissa DeCoux, Taline Lovato, Michael Lovato, Amanda Caldera, Zachary Fong, Hannah Caldera, Zaron Fong, Maya Caldera, Emma Caldera and Ray Caldera IV. His great grandchildren include: Mariah, Jilliana, Santino, Hailey, AnnaLaya, AJ and Michael Jr.
Ray was an original tough guy and fought hard for the ones he loved. In fact, it took several attempts to convince Linda to marry him – but he knew he couldn’t stop until she was his wife. They spent their first years together living on the Pacific Coast (Petaluma) and enjoying life and each other. They fondly recalled the beach life … with a simple picnic and each other to fill their days. The children came soon after and completed their family. The rest is history…
Working as a Chef for 60+ years, Ray enjoyed mentoring new staff and helping them achieve their goals. Ray also loved to cook for his family. The delicious meals he prepared were undeniably 5-Star ratings, and he never shared his recipes with anyone. Cooking was his pride and joy, and Ray enjoyed bringing happiness to his loved ones through food.
Ray will be infinitely missed by his family – may he rest in eternal peace.
